Prophet Isaiah gives an account of his life; “he was despised and rejected by men, a man of sorrows, and familiar with suffering. Like one from whom men hide their faces he was despised, and we esteemed him not.” But what would grief our savior was different in many ways from what grieves us today. His heart was burdened when he looked at the lives men lived. When many are times men rejected his message of salvation he would be saddened. Isaiah continues to say, “Surely he took up our infirmities and carried our sorrows, yet we considered him stricken by God.
But he was pierced for our transgressions, he was crushed for our infirmities; the punishment that brought us peace was upon him, and by his wound we are healed.” Isaiah 53. But in all these the lord’s joy was not taken away, he usually found joy and revival from communion in prayer with the Father. “He would wake up a great while before dawn and retreat to a lonely place where he would pray” and draw strength for the next day’s activities {mark 1:35}. He also found his joy from nature. The simple things that we overlook were a joy to our master! He prayed and taught on mountains, in forests and by seaside and rarely in synagogues. His lessons were normally expressed in natural things like trees, seeds, seasons etc.
We too can learn something from our lord, we can learn to express our cares and concerns to God. When we are in prayer no matter what we are passing through there is a different peace that we receive, that which apostle peter says transcends all human understanding. You can look through your life and see and find a reason to thank God for. It will help get your mind off the negatives. You can look around you and see the beauty of nature: the wonderful works of God and smile and thank God. DO NOT ALLOW ANYTHING TO STEAL YOUR JOY.
